Unposed

Vintage photographic images of posing women are interrupted by empty planes. The grey interventions simultaneously conceal and reveal: they refuse the expected gaze, yet in doing so create new space. Unposed suggests both the passive (not-posed) and the active (the un-posing). The empty spaces become as significant as the images themselves, highlighting tensions between what is shown and what may be seen, between object and subject, between looking and resisting. The work does not resolve these tensions but marks them — creating hesitations where looking becomes conscious of itself.
